Where to visit in Reykjavik?

You can check out the country’s seafaring heritage at the Reykjavik Maritime Museum in the newly renovated part of Reykjavik's harbor, known as the Grandi area. The museum gives a good insight into the life and times of Icelandic fishermen, showing how fishing has formed the nation.

Where is the Iceland Museum now?

In 2004, the museum was relocated to Húsavík, a village in northeastern Iceland, and then moved back to Iceland’s capital ofReykjavik in 2011. After a second move in 2020, the museum now resides on the first floor of a classy building in the city center, in a space almost three times larger than its previous location.

How far is Reykjavik Museum from High Street?

This is about a 30 min walk from Reykjavik high street. You can pay to go into the different areas of the museum we walked up to the fourth floor viewing platform which is free to do. The panoramic views were stunning as were the views from the cafe on the 5th floor. Well worth a visit
